That girl has enough clout not to give a flying fart about anything. I loved how she sang the Etta James role in the 2008 film Cadillac Records.

I think the doors might already have been open but she might have just been the first to go through some of them. I think is as Matt Walsh who actually admitted he quite liked the song. And he is very slight a tad conservative…

Ignorance is fine because it can be corrected by education. Stupidity, on the other hand, is a different story. As a musician and photographer, I find all forms of creativity fascinating. I don’t want to blow my own trumpet, as that’s not the done thing, but I believe this creativity sets us apart from mere mortals. Years of classical musical education and practice have changed me profoundly. Speaking a foreign language daily also opens the mind to new perspectives.

One thing I’ve learned is that musical taste is always subjective. I might derive more from hearing Mahler’s second symphony than you do because I’ve played it, studied it, and really listened to it. That “high brow” attitude can be applied to any musical creation. One could argue that Beyoncé’s music is preformatted and written by a whole production team, but does that detract from the feelings her music provokes? No, of course not. Does the lack of in-depth development of musical themes and sometimes repetitive lyrics denigrate her music compared to the classical repertoire? Possibly. But when I hear James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, “making it funky,” I am moved by the music.

AEarth Wind and Fire have the means to get anybody in the world up and if not dancing, then certainly moving to the music! I would also urge you to listen to Jacob Collier too. An amazing young man, who explores rhythm and harmony in a that few manage to do.

She has a great team behind her, writing, composing, and she’s a good singer. I’ve only heard the Texas hold’em song, but liked it. I know she got a whole load of backlash, but country music is for everyone. her voice lent itself so well to the song!

I need to give this a listen at some point. I don’t listen to very much country at all, but “Stand Still, Look Pretty” by The Wreckers (AKA Michelle Branch & Jessica Harp) is one of my favorite albums of all time, so under the right circumstances I can enjoy it …

You’re going to laugh, but I’m a classical music person (it helps my migraines), but on my good days when everyone is out I have been known to happily bop around my house to her music while I clean! 🤣
