I still don’t believe all the accusations made against him. If anyone was innocent it was him. He might have been misguided, or ill advised but I’m convinced that he was a good man. The fault of his parenting possibly. His genius can never be put in doubt. He was part of my childhood and my his music resonates everywhere it is heard.

Crazy? No. It was normal. In an age before the internet, there was the written press and not everyone read it. The abundance of information in this “information” age has made people believe they are experts in everything, had lead to decline in critical thinking, and making the person who speaks the loudest “right” by definition. One isn’t allowed to be ignorant of anything any more.

I’ll use our conversation about Usher as an example. I know the name. I know that he is an influential figure in the world of 21st Century popular music, but I know nothing of the man, except for a video when he singing a song by James Brown, and using some of his dance moves.

What I have just said undermines in no way whatsoever then man’s talent and popularity. It just says that I don’t know the man and do not feel able to have an opinion based on so little knowledge.

So yes. People loved Michael for his music, for his creative genius, and his groundbreaking videos. The press wasn’t always kind with him, and we took what they said with a pinch of salt. It was normal. Gossip is gossip, and will always be nothing more that gossip. Gossip is not fact. Gossip is not truth. At best, gossip is the opinion of somebody who doesn’t always have all the facts.

I loved how you summarised with the facts about gossip

And its true people need to accept that one can never know everything cause an expert always has an expert

I wasn’t sure how you were going to take that comment, but I’m glad that I didn’t annoy you. It was another time and certain question just didn’t even spring to mind.

An open mind is the best mind

Was of course the right answer. Sometimes I have this habit of going against the current of accepted wisdom, and sometimes people get upset. Others have a more open mind. I would never be mean however in a comment! Counter productive and not a good example to set for others.

Nice write-up. It’s been that long? I remember not being able to watch anything of his passing, only to watch his home going and bawling. He certainly had an impact that continues to remind us he was here.
